REPORTS TO: Plant Operations Manager

Position Overview:

Meds and Food for Kids Haiti is seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Assurance Manager to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety in the production of Medika Mamba. The Quality Assurance Manager will play a pivotal role in upholding the organization's commitment to producing safe and effective therapeutic foods for malnourished children.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Create, update, and disseminate the Quality Management System documentation to ensure adherence to quality standards and certifications.
  • Maintain the MFK's FSSC 22000 certification and ensure ongoing compliance. Implement a process approach to quality management in alignment with FSSC 22000 standards to enhance MFK’s commitment to quality and safety.
  • Conduct client, internal, and supplier audits to assess compliance with quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage and follow up on Corrective and Preventive Actions to address quality issues and prevent their recurrence.
  • Handle customer complaints and facilitate effective communication with clients to resolve quality-related concerns.
  • Prepare and submit quality-related documentation and responses for tenders and proposals.
  • Establish specifications for raw materials (RM) and finished products (FP) to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Validate raw materials, evaluate suppliers, and manage supplier complaints to maintain a reliable supply chain.
  • Define control plans for raw materials, finished products, and other essential manufacturing processes.
  • Lead the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Food Safety efforts within MFK.
  • Organize and facilitate management review meetings by contributing to the development of the Quality Policy, Quality Manual, and Quality Objectives.
  • Validate traceability tests and participate in mock recall exercises to ensure product safety and compliance.
  • Manage comprehensive analysis and stability studies, collaborating with partners such as Nutriset, EDESIA, and other Plumpy Field Network Partners.
  • Define rules for the extension of shelf life for products, considering quality and safety factors.
  • Define frequencies and rules for metrology to ensure accurate and reliable measurements.
  • Work closely with Management to develop and implement key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to regularly assess the effectiveness of quality assurance processes.
  • Analyze performance data to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous enhancement of product quality and safety.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: 3 to 4-year degree in chemistry, Food Science, quality assurance, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.

Work Experience: 3+ years of experience in quality assurance and quality control in a food manufacturing or related industry.

Additional Requirement:

Knowledge of food safety regulations, CODEX, GMP, HACCP, ISO standards, FSSC 22000, and additional requirements.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Attention to detail and a commitment to producing safe and high-quality products.

Ability to work in a cross-cultural and team-oriented environment.

Fluent in English, French, and Haitian Creole, both spoken and written.

Working Conditions:  Must be available to work on days off, and holidays, and handle emergencies, if required.

Cross-Functionality:  The Quality Assurance Manager will work closely with the Quality Control Manager (QCM) to ensure seamless coordination between quality assurance and quality control functions. This collaboration aims to maintain the highest standards of product quality and safety throughout the production process.
