Dear Friends,
Civil unrest, earthquakes, political tumult, and the COVID-19 pandemic made 2021 a tough year in Haiti. In MFK’s 18 years on the ground in Cap-Haitien, however, tough times have come and gone. Despite many complex challenges, MFK’s staff, volunteers, and partners have nevertheless carried on, improving the lives of the many people we touch. We could not do this without your generosity.
Because of your generosity, In 2021 we were able to:
In the upcoming year, we will continue to navigate our mission activities in the safest way possible while the country grapples with unrest and diesel shortages. Clinics that experienced a decrease in attendance due to COVID-19 restrictions in 2021 are now serving more children due to the economic impact of the pandemic on families. Partner schools will continue to provide our Vita Mamba snack to their students – the only sustenance many of these children receive to fuel them for the entire day.
Our farmer training takes place in small groups to ensure social distancing and effective instruction throughout the growing season. Our team is adaptable and up to the challenge, but we cannot do this work without the support of our generous donors and friends.
Your donations directly improve the lives of many Haitians, first and foremost saving children from suffering and death due to malnutrition. But your donations also prevent malnutrition, by sustaining jobs for the women and men who work in our factory producing MFK’s line of life-saving therapeutic foods. Your support allows MFK to continue our work with Haiti’s smallholder farmers with ongoing education that increases healthy peanut yields, enabling MFK to purchase local peanuts and, in turn, increase farmers’ income.
Your gift will enable us to continue making a difference in the lives of Haitian children and families today, despite the turmoil that surrounds us. Your support today will make a difference for a lifetime.
Thank you for your continued support of this mission. We wish you and yours a joyful and healthy New Year.
Mesi Anpil,
Suzanne Langlois
